Saskatchewan's November Helium and Associated Gases Crown Offering Draws Nearly $5 Million in Bids

CANADA, November 6 - Released on November 6, 2026

The Government of Saskatchewan's final 2026 public offering of helium and associated gases Crown permits generated more than $4.9 million in revenue, with all eight permits receiving successful bids.

The permits covered a total area of 208,839 hectares, with Millennium Land Ltd. placing the highest bid, offering $1,198,327 for a permit southwest of Moose Jaw.

Millennium Land Ltd. bid on five permits for a total of approximately $3 million, covering an area of 106,354 hectares. Synergy Lands Services Ltd. was the other successful bidder in this offering having bid approximately $1.9 million for three permits, covering a total area of 102,484 hectares.

This year's third public offering of helium and associated gases Crown permits reflects strong and ongoing industry interest in Saskatchewan's helium and natural hydrogen potential. To meet growing demand for exploration rights, the Ministry of Energy and Resources launched a public offering system this fiscal year that mirrors the competitive bidding processes used for Crown petroleum and natural gas, potash, and brine lithium rights.

Since introducing the new helium and associated gases public offering process in June 2026, the Government of Saskatchewan has generated a total of $23.3 million in revenue, helping fund essential public services such as education and health care across the province.

The ministry expects to hold the next helium and associated gases public offering on April 5, 2027.

Saskatchewan is Canada's largest helium producer, accounting for roughly 3.5 per cent of the world's supply. The gas is used as a coolant in key modern technologies in the medical, manufacturing, defence and space exploration sectors. The province also has geological occurrences of natural hydrogen, which has generated recent exploration interest and promising development opportunities.
