Premier Accepts Marco MacLeod’s Resignation from Cabinet
CANADA, September 2 - Premier Tim Houston has accepted the resignation of Marco MacLeod as Energy minister.
Mr. MacLeod offered his resignation tonight, September 2, following several weeks of meeting with women’s advocacy organizations and having difficult conversations to gain a greater perspective on the impact of songs he had published online in 2013 with hurtful lyrics.
“Mr. MacLeod has offered me his resignation, which I have accepted," said Premier Houston. “Marco has expressed to me his regret for publishing those songs. Ultimately, he feels his actions have become a distraction from the work of our government, and he wants to spend more time focusing on learning and growing. I thank Marco for the work he has given to the Province in his role as minister of Energy.”
Mr. MacLeod continues to serve as the MLA for Pictou West.
Premier Houston will resume the role of Minister of Energy.
